Managerial record
Through 33 games, Thomson’s 23-10 record is excellent. This includes 7-4 without the NL MVP. I don’t need a playoff trip to make Thomson the man. This is a very high bar given the strength of the National League and Harper’s extended absence from where the team was on June 3.
If I have a critique of Thomson so far, it’s (probably too far and too often) his debut on high pitch counts. Maybe it’s Thomson’s philosophy. Maybe it’s not guaranteed long term because of the need to win as much as possible in the short term. The Phillies can do something about this, and make Thomson more secure in his role.
Is five weeks enough to sell? For some, it might not. But after seeing the end of the Charlie Manuel era this franchise butchers, mistakenly thinks Raine Sandberg was cut for the role, scapegoating Gabe Kapler and overtaking Joe Girardi, doing a good job. Which is becoming more and more clear. Day: Make Thomson fit now and for the foreseeable future.
Salary
Rob Thomson’s net worth is estimated to be around $5 million. His primary source of income is from his working career as the manager of the baseball club Philadelphia Phillies. Rob Thomson’s salary per month and other career earnings is more than $1 million dollars annually. His remarkable achievements have earned him some lavish lifestyle and some fancy car trips. He is one of the richest and most influential baseball managers in the United States.
Nickname
Thomson has similarly run Phillies spring training in recent seasons. The meaning behind his “Topper” nickname is reminiscent of the same work ethic that Halladay brought to the Phillies in his four seasons in red pinstripes.
If Holladay played under Thomson today, it would be hard to predict who would be the first to hit the ballpark on any given day.
