When does compete

On February 7, USA star Red Gerrard will compete in the men’s snowboard slopestyle final at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. Check out their schedule for the day below.

Gerard Pyeongchang is looking to defend the historic gold medal he won in slopestyle in 2018. The Colorado native made headlines around the world four years ago on the slopes in the Republic of Korea, when he was just 17 years old. Became the youngest snowboarder in history to win gold.

This 5’5″ trickster is sure to showcase his creativity and unconventional approach in Beijing 2022.

Four years ago, American snowboarders Red Gerrard and Hailey Langland made their Olympic debuts as 17-year-olds competing in slopestyle and big air, and as a new couple whose longtime friendship took place just weeks before the Games. Turned into romance.

However, none of his experiences in Pyeongchang were as he had imagined. Looking back, Gerard and Langland, now 21, agree that those two weeks in February 2018 shaped their outlook on snowboarding and profoundly changed the way they compete today.

Gerrard, unaware of the enormity of the event, arrived in South Korea and struggled in the post-Olympic spotlight, winning gold on his third and final slopestyle run.

Langland put so much pressure on herself to reach the biggest stage in the world that when she finished sixth in slopestyle, she questioned how she defined herself.

Red Gerrard and Jamie Anderson come on as defending slopestyle champions at the 2022 Olympics. They both crashed out of the event this week without medals, the first time the United States has failed to capture gold in the slopestyle event’s existence.

Anderson finished ninth in the women’s event on Sunday, followed by Gerrard with a fourth-place finish on Monday in the men’s edition. Gerrard had a better shot – he was hit off the podium by the last potential challenger who could do so – but he would leave the Olympic mountain venue empty-handed.

Canada’s Max Parrott snatched the gold this time with a fall of 90.96 runs on the second run of his three runs featuring three triple corks. 17-year-old Su Yiming of China won silver and Canada’s Mark McMorris won bronze.

Gerrard made a strong start, posting an impressive 83.25 in his opening round which included two 1620s. This was enough to take the top spot for the round. Gerard’s famous family, who drank South Korea dry in 2018, was not in attendance, but his girlfriend — fellow snowboarder Hailey Langland — was, and he briefly hugged her after his first run.
