Raymond Warren OAM (born 11 June 1943) is a retired Australian sports commentator best known for his coverage of televised professional rugby league matches on the Nine Network. He is often referred to as “The Voice of Rugby League”. Warren used to call the events of the Australian swimming team and the FINA World Championships until the Nine lost the rights to these events in 2008 and participated in Nine’s coverage of the London Olympics in 2012.

Ray Warren remarks on his last game of rugby league, with the veteran broadcaster announcing his immediate retirement from what he calls the football.
The 78-year-old will not comment on this year’s State of Origin series, ending months of speculation about his future.
Warren signed a five-year contract with Channel 9 in 2017 – extended until the end of the 2022 season – but he did not appear in the commentary box this season.
“After talking with my family and calling rugby league and other sports for 55 years, I have decided that my time in the commentary box is over,” Warren said in a statement.
“I would be too short to call but I think it is time to move on with my 80th birthday only 12 months away.
“I really want to thank everyone very much. All my teammates on Channel 9, Channel 10, Radio 2GB and where I made my debut in Radio 2LF in Young, a young man from Juni to turn his dreams into reality Hope my story will bring some inspiration in the lives of other young children of the country.
