Does have gold teeth

Hall, who ran with a grill of gold teeth gleaming under the Stade de France floodlights, has now collected another piece of the precious metal and become the United States’ first Olympic champion in the event since LaShawn Merritt in 2008. Hall, a former 400 m hurdler, only switched to the flat 400 m last year.

Gold grill

Quincy Hall ran 400 meters behind three men on the final turn of the Paris Olympics, his two gold chains and a grill of gold teeth gleaming under the Stade de France lights. The first 300 meters were run at a fast pace – “hell”, as one of the runners later called it. No one would have guessed that Hall could catch them.

Hall didn’t think he could close the gap. The pain in his 26 years of life and the training he had given himself had conditioned him otherwise: he knew.

“As soon as he fired that gun, I knew he had me,” Hall said Wednesday night. “You can’t go too far.”

Kansas City, MO. A track and field outsider whose path ran through a junior college in California, Hall sprinted from fourth place in the final 100 meters to win gold in one of the fastest, fastest races ever, the men’s 400 meters. Olympic history. Arms and legs flailing, jaw clenched, chin bouncing, Hall caught and passed Britain’s Matthew Hudson-Smith with five meters remaining and crossed the line in 43.40 seconds – fourth fastest ever. Fast time and 0.04 seconds ahead of Hudson-Smith.
