Draft projection
Quay Walker spent the last two seasons as a stabilizing factor of sorts for the Georgia Defense, particularly in pass coverage.
Notably in 2021, Walker was Georgia’s coverage backer. They often equated him with passing strength and, whenever possible, fielded him in favor of either Nkobe Dean or Channing Tindall. Although only an average athlete in space, Walker has an excellent grasp for zone coverage. He knows how to route players to the defenders of different zones, and he knows where to go after going through the routes. Walker rarely aired around pass-catchers in coverage and consistently fired fast triggers to play or tackle the ball.
Walker is also a capable run defender. Like all Georgia’s defenders, Walker has a bad attitude towards contact and is willing to spoil in traffic. His strength staggers at times, but he always finds himself close to the action, thanks to comfortable movement skills in tight spaces and reliable run game diagnosis. He also shows a complete toolbox for being able to rebuild or escape blocks, even if his physical profile makes it hard to capitalize on all the time. The flip side is that the walker’s average speed and clumsy redirection can catch him in space a little too often, which can become an issue for professionals.

Walker played in all 14 Georgia games during his freshman season and made a total of six tackles. He saw an increase in playing time as a sophomore and finished the season with 23 tackles, 3.5 tackles for losses and 2.5 sacks. Walker finished his junior season as Georgia’s fourth leading tackler with 43.
Quay Walker was a 4-star recruit coming out of Crisp County High in the 2018 class. He was the number 2 outside linebacker nationally, the number 31 overall prospect, and the number 6 recruit in Georgia.
