One lucky lotto player could be in for a huge treat on Halloween night as the Powerball jackpot rises to an estimated $1 billion with the next drawing on Monday.
The jackpot is set to reach the billion-dollar mark after Saturday’s drawing, which got all five numbers and none to claim the nearly $825 million prize from Powerball.
According to the lottery, this is only the second time in Powerball’s 30-year history that the jackpot has grossed $1 billion.

According to the Powerball website, the lottery jackpot was an estimated $825 million with a cash option of $410.2 million. It is the second highest Powerball ever and the highest in the U.S. The lottery is the fifth largest in history.
The jackpot was last won on the night of August 3 when a lottery player in Pennsylvania took home $206.9 million.
Meanwhile, according to the Mega Millions website, the Mega Millions jackpot is $42.8 million with a cash option of $87 million.
Until recently, it was necessary to identify lottery winners in New Jersey, but now winners will be able to remain anonymous under a new law that was signed by Gov. Phil Murphy.
Powerball drawings are held three times a week – Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 10:59 pm. Monday images added in 2021.
The cost is $2 per ticket, but you can add Power Play for $1, which will increase your potential prize amount up to five times the original prize (excluding the jackpot and match 5). There is also the possibility of a 10x Power Play if the jackpot is less than $150 million.
Each player chooses five numbers from 1 to 69 for the white balls and one number from 1 to 26 for the red Powerballs. However, you can also have a lottery machine create a quick pick up ticket for you with random numbers.

10-28-2022 Powerball jackpot rises again, to $825 million
Due to a consistently high game volume and unmatched numbers, the Powerball jackpot has reached $825 million ahead of Saturday’s draw, the second largest in Powerball history. Cash value is placed at $410.2 million.
Jackpot US The lottery also ranks the 5th highest in history, and has reached a high of 2022 as it continues to climb, with 25 million from Thursday’s estimate and 125 million from Wednesday’s drawing.
“We are excited to be in the lottery world with all these high jackpots,” said Assistant Director Randy Burnside. “It’s a lively time, but we want to encourage all players to have fun, but at the same time, play responsibly.”
The drawing will be 37th in the current jackpot run. In Wednesday’s drawing, players won more than $21.2 million in bottom-line cash prizes.
Tickets for Monday’s Powerball drawing can be purchased from any West Virginia Lottery retailer for $2 or $3 with the Power Play option, which increases your non-jackpot prizes.
All tickets must be purchased by 9:59 PM. ET Saturday.
