Karolina Hrdlikova (née Plikova; Czech pronunciation born 21 March 1992) is a Czech professional tennis player. She is the former world No. 1 player in singles after reaching the top of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings on 17 July 2017 and holding the position for eight weeks.[6] On 31 October 2016, she became the world No. 1 player in the doubles rankings. Reached number 11. Known for her powerful serve and forehand, Pliskova has won 16 singles and five doubles titles on the WTA Tour, 10 singles and six doubles titles on ITF Circuit, and more than $20 million in prize money. She has reached two Grand Slam singles finals at the 2016 US Open and the 2021 Wimbledon Championships. As a junior, Pliskova won the girls’ singles event at the 2010 Australian Open. She has also played for Czech Republic in Fed Cup competition.

Baby
Changes continue in the life of Kristina Pliskova. She recently got engaged to longtime boyfriend David Hanko this summer after Wimbledon. And now, the couple is expecting their first child. Pliskova announced the news on Instagram on Monday.
“Last Christmas as of two,” she wrote as her caption on a photo of herself and Hanko.

Kristina’s soon-to-be husband is also a professional athlete and currently plays football for Czech First League club Sparta Prague. The world number 140 has made it to two WTA quarterfinals this season in singles, and she also made it to the quarterfinals at Roland Garros in doubles with her younger sister.
Twins
Both sisters took up the sport at the age of four, and as juniors, Karolina won the girls’ title at the 2010 Australian Open, while Christina won the same year at Wimbledon. In 2013, the twins also won their first WTA doubles title at the Linz Open in Austria, becoming the first twins to win together in tennis history.
Coach
Bazin first came into the limelight as Serena Williams’ hitting partner. He was a part of Williams’ team for eight years.
Bajin was part of the Williams camp for her 10 Grand Slam titles. In an interview to the New York Times, Bazin recalled their time together. “We’ve been through a lot really. There were so many heights with Serena, it’s so hard to name one. I was at the Olympics with her. It’s just beautiful to spend every day with one of the greatest athletes in the world.”
Injury
World number 8 Karolina Pliskova has revealed that she suffered a hand injury after falling in the gym during the preseason. In December, Pliskova announced that she suffered a hand injury. As expected, Pliskova was forced to miss the Australian Open and also missed a few events in February.
On Friday, former world No. 1 Pliskova started her season at the Indian Wells Masters. Pliskova said, “I fell in the gym. I was doing some jumps and fell down and I broke [the radius bone in my right hand]. I heard a click. It was completely broken.”
