Lusik started the fight well, using his height and weight to his advantage during the first round, as Galen spent his time. Galen momentarily looked like he might be in trouble at the start of the second round as Lucic carried on, but the Cronulla veteran stormed off and his opponent suddenly ran out of steam. With Lusik completely out of gas, he was the sitting duck for Galen, who eventually took several assassin blows, stopping the fight in the third round.

Galen charged to advance into the second round, before Lusik responded, letting the former NSW captain fly his fist while driving against the ropes. But the 40-year-old is tough, and she responded with some seriously heavy uppercuts. He assimilated the punishment, but made major blows of his own and climbed again as Lusik was dramatically exhausted. More uppercuts were applied after some brutal body shots from Galen, and he scored the first knockdown of the night at the end of the second round. Another blow hit Lusick badly and he stumbled before falling down just before the bell rang.
