Paul Casey withdrew from the Masters on Thursday ahead of the start of the first round due to injury. Per Reuters, the golfer withdrew due to a back spasm.

He was eliminated from the competition on Thursday morning before he was supposed to flirt with Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith.

The 44-year-old was looking to make his 16th appearance at the Masters in 2022. His best performance was in the fourth place in 2016.

An injury forced Paul Casey to withdraw from the Masters minutes before his tee-time on Thursday afternoon.

The 44-year-old was supposed to make his opening round debut at 3.53 pm along with Bryson DeChambeau and Cameron Smith but was ruled out due to a recurring problem.

After a similarly late return from each of his three matches at the WGC-Dell Technologies match play in Texas in March.

“Sad I had to withdraw from this year’s Masters tournament,” Casey said in an Instagram post.

A total of 90 participants took part in the arena of the 86th Masters, following the departure of the world number 25.

Casey had previously competed with her son Lex in Wednesday’s traditional par-3 competition, and the week’s first practice round, without a hitch.

This would be his 16th Masters appearance, where he recorded a tie-fourth best in 2016, when fellow British player Danny Willett emerged victorious.
