Patrick Lavon Mahomes II[2] (born September 17, 1995) is an American football quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). He initially played college football and college baseball at Texas Tech University. After his sophomore year, he left baseball to focus entirely on football. In his junior year, he led all NCAA Division I FBS players in several categories, including passing yards (5,052 yards) and total touchdowns (53 touchdowns). He entered the 2017 NFL Draft and was the tenth overall pick by the Chiefs.

Four months after signing a contract extension that could reach half a billion dollars, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes invested in the WHOOP, a wearable device that tracks daily recovery, stress and sleep.
“I was blown away by the detailed data,” Mahomes said via email.
WHOOP was recently valued at $1.2 billion and has raised over $200 million in capital to date. It has about 15 venture funds, and Mahomes is one of less than 100 strategic partners.
Mahomes’ longtime instructor, Bobby Stroop, is a WHOOP member, and Mahomes first began using it in college at Texas Tech.
“I was looking for an edge to take my game to the next level,” Mahomes said. “WHOOP took the guesswork out of my training regimen.”
