Patrick Mahomes got married to his fiancé, Brittany Matthews, on Sunday.

The two high school sweethearts finally tied the knot after becoming engaged in September 2020. Mahomes’ brother, Jackson Mahomes, was the best man for the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback. His teammate Travis Kelce was also a groomsman.

The only person happier than Mahomes and Matthews was Mahomes’ mother, Randi Martin.

Wedding:

Patrick Mahomes’ family is often scrutinized by the media. Matthews herself has been on the receiving end of negative comments on social media regularly.

Both herself and Mahomes’ brother, Jackson, are die-hard fans of the Chiefs and their quarterback. They’ve posted videos of themselves cheering as loudly as anyone in Arrowhead Stadium (or any stadium for that matter.)

Randi took to Twitter Sunday to post an adorable picture of herself getting married when Patrick was a toddler. She included a picture of herself and her son in the present day for comparison.

At the time, though, the maneuver made sense not just for Kansas City, but also for the Bills, who were trading down. Even in retrospect, the Bills can feel pretty good about the players they have now because of that trade, including star cornerback Tre’Davious White.

For Kansas City, groundwork was laid toward winning Super Bowl 54. In Buffalo, it began a slightly longer process toward consistent relevance that’s been advanced with the 2018 selection of Josh Allen.

Both teams have their franchise quarterbacks now, and the Bills have a deeper team thanks to that trade with Kansas City and other deals that followed.
