Patrick Lavon Mahomes II (born September 17, 1995) is an American football quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). The son of former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher Pat Mahomes, he played college football and baseball at Texas Tech. After his sophomore year, he left baseball to focus solely on football. In his junior year, he led all NCAA Division I FBS players in several categories, including passing yards (5,052) and total touchdowns (53). He was selected 10th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Patrick Mahomes was added to the Kansas City Chiefs’ injury report with flu-like symptoms on Sunday, but the team said he will still start against the Denver Broncos.
Patrick Mahomes is 12-0 against the Broncos, whom the Chiefs have defeated 16 in a row since 2015.
Mahomes took the field two hours before kickoff and warmed up his throwing arm. Mahomes, wearing a hoodie, did some light drop-backs like his backup Blaine Gabbert.
Temperatures were in the mid-20s in Denver on Sunday after an overnight storm dumped up to 10 inches of snow on the city.
