Is injured

Patrick Mahomes: Is injured| Does have a kid| New contract

As we try to diagnose problems with the Kansas City Chiefs, it’s worth raising any and all possible explanations. One possibility is that quarterback Patrick Mahomes is not 100 percent healthy.

He had surgery to repair a torn ligament in his big toe just days after Super Bowl LV. She has said she is fine, and has not missed any practice or games. But it’s possible he’s impaired enough after surgery that the margin that allowed him to take out defenders long enough to make a spectacular play is shortened or even disappeared. This will make it difficult for him to stay one step ahead of those who want to deal with him while he waits for someone to find a hole in the coverage in which Mahomes will launch a laser beam with a flick of the wrist.

Watch the game. Something is missing. Maybe it’s as simple as Mahomes not having the extra small lead that lets him move half a step ahead of defensive linemen and linebackers.

Does have a kid

Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews are showing the world how adorable their daughter is!

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and his fiancé welcomed their first child, Sterling Sky Mahomes, in February. While the couple has shared a lot of pictures of baby Sterling over the past 3 1/2 months, only now are they giving fans a glimpse of his adorable face.

New contract

On July 6, 2020, the record-breaking contract extension of Patrick Mahomes hit the sports world. It was a 10-year extension, eventually valuing up to $503 million over 12 years. The numbers were eye-opening, and the length of the deal seemed outrageous. However, NFL contracts do not work in a void. Guaranteed funding, pro-rata, base pay, and other under-the-radar details often push the science of NFL contracts beyond understanding for most fans. Many NFL teams employ cap specialists for some reason.

The Chiefs have restructured Mahomes’ 2021 salary cap numbers for the 2021 season, opening up $17 million in the salary-cap space for the 2021 season. The future that Chief General Manager Brett Veitch certainly envisioned with Mahomes’ contract became more clear with the move. It paints a picture that seems almost impossible.
