Gifts to offensive line
Despite having a tough year, the Kansas City Chiefs are still the NFL champions and Patrick Mahomes is still the best quarterback in the league. But to work his magic week-in-week-out, he needs the attacking support and efficiency of his league.
That’s why Mahomes thanked his bodyguards for their work with an expensive Christmas gift, as is the style of quarterbacks with big contracts in the league.
Interceptions
The Las Vegas Raiders scored two defensive touchdowns for the second straight week, including Patrick Mahomes’ pick-six, as they beat the Kansas City Chiefs 20-14 at Arrowhead on Christmas Day.
Defensive tackle Bilal Nichols returned a fumble eight yards for a touchdown, before Jack Jones took an interception 33 yards for another score seven seconds later, as the Raiders (7-8) took the lead by six for the Chiefs. Broke the losing streak of the game.
Kansas City (9-6) missed a chance to capture the AFC West for the eighth consecutive year with one of its worst performances of the Mahomes era.
Along with two defensive touchdowns, Harrison Butker missed a chip-shot field goal, penalties and dropped passes were again a problem, and twice they failed to score on fourth down in the second half.
Crying
Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce pushed his emotions aside during his team’s 20-14 upset loss to the Las Vegas Raiders.
Kelce was caught on camera throwing his helmet on the ground in anger on the Chiefs sideline during the first half, and coach Andy Reid and QB Patrick Mahomes had to calm him down.
Kelce’s outburst, which came as girlfriend Taylor Swift spent Christmas watching in a luxury suite at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, occurred after the Raiders scored two defensive touchdowns in seven seconds late in the first half.
