Patrick Mahomes’ fiancé, Brittany Matthews, is facing criticism on social media after a viral tweet showed her spraying Chiefs fans with champagne after the team’s divisional-round win over the Bills.

A copy of the video – in which Matthew happily sprays champagne on the crowd below him – appears on his Instagram. Barstool Sports also tweeted the video with the caption, “Societies need (sic) Bengal to win next week.” The Chiefs host the Bengals in the AFC Championship Game on Sunday.

The Story Behind Brittany Matthews’ Tweet During the Kansas City Chiefs-Cleveland Browns Game
In the first quarter, Cleveland Browns safety Ronnie Harrison faced Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Hellier on the edge of Kansas City. In the midst of a scuffle, there was a penalty originally called for on the edge of Kansas City when a coach was shown pushing Harrison.

The entire Kansas City Chiefs team was up in arms about the call and pointed fingers at Harrison to start. Upon further review of the replay, Ronnie Harrison was seen kicking/stepping at Edwards-Heller. The Kansas City coach pushed Harrison away from his RB, causing Harrison to push back even harder.

The call was reversed by the Kansas City Chiefs in non-discriminatory conduct on Harrison, who was ousted from the game. Every Chiefs player and fan was celebrating Harrison’s dirty tactics, including Patrick Mahomes’ fiancé Brittany Matthews.

Choked

During the first two and a half minutes of the 2021 AFC Championship Game, it looked like the Kansas City Chiefs would cruise to their third straight Super Bowl appearance. Up 21-3 over the Cincinnati Bengals, Patrick Mahomes’ offense was less than 10 yards from the end zone. In a worst-case scenario, the Chiefs looked like they’d set themselves up for a 24-3 halftime lead. At best, it’s 28-3 and Casey gets the ball after half.

But then Mahomes had a foot in his mind. Or Andy Reid. Or Tyrek Hill. Or all three. One way or another, a mistake was made as Mahomes threw a swing pass to Hill with only seconds left in the half and no time was up. Hill was cut short of the goal line, the clock ran out as Mahomes tried to signal for a timeout that the Chiefs did not have, and the half was over. Kansas City cost themselves as little as three points and seven with a bizarre playcall that failed.

Everything snowballed from there for Kansas City. A crime that had dominated for 10 quarters suddenly broke out. The Chiefs punts on their first two possessions of the third quarter before Mahomes threw a boned pick to the defensive lineman.
