Espy
Patrick Mahomes won both of his individual ESPY Award nominations Thursday night, and took home the title of “Male Athlete of the Year” for the second year in a row, when it was announced Wednesday afternoon that he would win “Best NFL Player.”
In a class that included Los Angeles Angels/Dodgers All-Star Shohei Ohtani, champion golfer Scottie Scheffler and Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid, the Kansas City Chiefs superstar emerged victorious in consecutive years. Comedian Nikki Glaser presented the award to head coach Andy Reid, who accepted it on Mahomes’ behalf and gave a supportive speech for the reigning Super Bowl MVP.
“I’ve been around this kid the last few years, and watching him grow as a teammate and leader has been phenomenal. But really, more than that, watching him grow as a father and husband has probably been the best part of it. This is a true tribute to him.” Reed said. “We are very fortunate to have him in Kansas City. We’re all in the National Football League, but really, in Kansas City, we appreciate all he’s done for the city and obviously for the organization.
Dogs names
The dog was a Valentine’s Day gift from Patrick Mahomes when she was a junior. She told People that Steele and her other dog, Silver, are “wild and full of energy.” According to the dogs’ Instagram page, Steele is a pit bull and Silver is a Cane Corso.
Expecting
