Patrick Lavon Mahomes II (born September 17, 1995) is an American football quarterback for the Kansas City Chiefs of the National Football League (NFL). The son of former Major League Baseball (MLB) pitcher Pat Mahomes, he initially played college football and college baseball at Texas Tech University. After his sophomore year, he left baseball to focus entirely on football. In his junior year, he led all NCAA Division I FBS players in multiple categories, including passing yards (5,052) and total touchdowns (53). He was selected 10th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2017 NFL Draft.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his fiancé Brittany Matthews welcomed their first child on Sunday.
The couple announced the birth on Instagram with matching photos, saying that their daughter, Sterling Sky Mahomes, was born at 6 pounds and 11 ounces.
Matthews and Mahomes have been together since high school, and Matthews has been a devoted Chiefs fan since Mahomes joined the team in 2017.
But outside of football, Matthews has built an athletic empire of his own by playing professional football in Europe and starting his own fitness company.
