Ilya brushes off Topuria’s callout: ‘Everyone wants to hang on to my coattails’
LONDON – Paddy Pimblett has no interest in fighting Ilya Topuria.
The UFC standout dashed Topuria’s callout at UFC Fight Night 204 in London on Saturday. Topuria called up Pimblett (18-3 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and expressed his interest in fighting him throughout the week following Tuesday’s brawl and then his knockout win over Jay Herbert.
Topuria called Pimblett a “blonde b*tch” in his in-cage post-fight interview with Michael Bisping and said he wanted to meet Pimblett in the Octagon.
Like Topuria, Pimblett was successful and secured a stoppage victory on the main card of the event. Pimblett submitted Kazula Vargas in the first round – and he was unwilling to accept Topuria’s challenge.
“Everybody wants to fight me,” Pimblett told reporters at a news conference after the fight. “Everyone wants to hang on to my coattails. No one knew Ilya Topuria – or ‘hand sanitizer boy’ – until he tried to start a brawl with me. Nobody knew who he was. I’m a draw Everybody wants to fight with me.”

Vargas hit Pimblett with a big punch in the opening order, and then quickly took the top spot.
