Injury:

Injuries are starting to pile up around the league, and the Braves were hit with an especially tough one Monday when second baseman Ozzie Albies suffered a fractured foot.

He was placed directly on the 60-day IL Tuesday, meaning he’s going to be out until mid-August at the earliest, dealing a blow to Fantasy players with Albies on their roster, too.

What makes this hurt even more is Albies was off to a slow start, ranking 11th at second base while hitting .244 with eight homers and three steals.

Injury Update:

Albies suffered the injury on an awkward swing during Monday’s 9-5 victory over the Washington Nationals.

As the ball left the bat, the veteran hobbled a step down the first-base line before falling to the ground in pain.

He sat up and immediately looked down at the injured foot. After he made his way to the dugout, he hopped on his right foot down the stairs and into the Braves’ clubhouse. He was replaced at second base by veteran backup Orlando Arcia.

Ozzie Albies suffered a fractured left foot during the club’s 9-5 win over the Nationals, an injury that will sideline Atlanta’s stalwart second baseman for a good chunk of the summer.

Albies will be out until at least mid-August after the club placed him on the 60-day injured list Tuesday, selecting the contract of infielder Phil Gosselin in a corresponding move.

This will be the second stint with the Braves for Gosselin, who emerged as a valuable utility man for the club from 2013-15. Albies was 0-for-2 with a run scored and a walk at the time of the injury. Arcia singled in his first at-bat.
