Oldham Athletic have confirmed the sale of the football club to local businessman Frank Rothwell. The Lancashire-based club confirmed in June that they had reached an agreement with an unnamed individual to take control of the company.

Play was held up at Boundary Park where Oldham Athletic fans protested against the ownership of the club.

Situated under the arch between the entrances to Glo Gym and the OEC, supporters will be able to enjoy the newly-named Bar Station Zebra before and after the game against Dorking Wanderers.

Oldham Athletic have been taken over by local businessman Frank Rothwell, buying the troubled club from Abdallah Lemsagam.

It comes as Latics were relegated from the Football League for the first time in 115 years last season amid angry fan protests at how the club was being run.

A takeover of Oldham Athletic has been agreed with new local owners expected to buy the club by the end of the season. Owner Abdallah Lemsagam and stadium landlords Brass Bank Ltd have agreed to sell after the team dropped out of the Football League for the first time in its 115-year history.

Rumours:

Chris Porter, who had seen an earlier effort ruled out for offside, then doubled Oldham’s lead seven minutes into the second half following a swift counter-attack.

Ben Tollitt’s deflected effort seemed to have wrapped things up after 66 minutes.

Dorking, who came up through the National League South play-offs in May, staged a late fightback.
