Prediction
Ohio State has surprised no one as the Buckeyes have taken care of each of their opponents with ease so far this season. More surprising, OSU isn’t getting more love from national pollsters, who still have the Bucks sitting behind both Alabama and Georgia.
Ryan Day’s team has the opportunity to play the first five matches at Ohio Stadium’s home ground. Now the Buckeyes have their first road trip of the year as they prepare to head to East Lansing for a showdown with the state of Michigan.
The Spartans have bit their toe in recent weeks, but moving into hostile territory in conference games is never easy. Will Mel Tucker have Michigan State up for the challenge or will Ohio State roll in once again?
Well, it doesn’t look like the Michigan State Pass defense has gotten much better than the last time these two teams met. Last year CJ Stroud lit up the Spartan defense with just three imperfections, to the tune of 432 yards and six touchdowns. MSU has already allowed several 300-yard passing games this year.
This bodes well for Stroud & Co., which is airing it throughout the season for most of the year, even without the services of Jackson Smith-Njigba. Stroud looked a bit off against Rutgers last week, but a date with a Michigan state secondary might be just what the doctor ordered.

While the Buckeyes and Wolverine first met on the football field in 1897, the disdain between these two states went back even further. Michigan and Ohio fought a war over the city of Toledo in about 1835.
Six decades later, Michigan defeated Ohio State 36–0 in the inaugural meeting between the two events on October 16, 1897. In fact, the Buckeyes did not score a single point against the Wolverines until 1904. They were defeated at home in Columbus. 31-6.
It took 13 defeats and two ties (over a period of 22 years) before Ohio State emerged victorious. Michigan’s nine-game winning streak from 1901–1909 remains the longest of the rivalry.
