Four days after being acquired by the Los Angeles Rams, Von Miller is working hard to recruit another former pro bowler to join him.

In a post on Instagram, Miller wished receiver Odell Beckham Jr. a happy birthday and asked her to “come to [the Rams] so we can chase this ring together.”

The Cleveland Browns announced Friday that they are finalizing a deal to release Beckham. He must go through an exemption before he can become a free agent.

It may be difficult for the Rams to find Beckham. They are ranked 30th out of 32 teams in the NFL’s exemption order thanks to their 7-1 record.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Browns are working to convert Beckham’s basic pay into a signing bonus to reduce his cap hit. This will make it easier for potentially interested teams to claim the discount.

Even if the Rams don’t take down Beckham, their offense should be fine. Cooper Kupp is leading at a historic pace with 924 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Robert Woods has also been excellent, with four scores for 458 yards and 38 catches.

Current team

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, after Brown announced earlier in the day that he planned to release Beckham, Cleveland reached a contractual settlement with the wide receiver on Friday night. Pending approval for the reworked contract by the NFLPA, Beckham will receive a waiver on Monday and can be claimed at 4 p.m. Tuesday. ET.

So where could the three-time pro bowler’s next home be?

Well, the number of teams with enough cap space to take on Beckham’s deal is currently in the single digits. Beckham was originally owed about $8 million for the rest of this season. Following the restructuring of his contract, that figure has been reduced to $7.25 million per shafter. The remaining two years of Beckham’s deal, with no guaranteed money, were also dropped. So Beckham is set to become a free agent after the 2021 season.

According to Over the Cap, there are only nine teams, not including the Browns, who have at least $7.25 million in the space as of Friday. They are followed where they fall in the current waiver wire order: Jacksonville Jaguars (No. 4 exemption priority), Washington football team (No. 7) Philadelphia Eagles (No. 8), Seattle Seahawks (No. 9), Denver Broncos (No. 9). 17), Carolina Panthers (No. 19), Los Angeles Chargers (No. 20), Pittsburgh Steelers (No. 21) and Cincinnati Bengals (No. 22).

The team with the highest exemption priority claiming Beckham will be awarded a wideout.

Whether it’s through a waiver or if Beckham becomes a free agent, all teams interested in the 29-year-old wideout are likely to be playoff contenders. With that said, it’s probably safe to say that 1-6 Jaguars would not claim a waiver on Beckham. A 2-6 soccer team and 3-5 Eagles may still advance to the playoffs, but they’re still not very fit.

Where is going

Brown and Odell Beckham Jr. are reportedly breaking up.

Beckham received official word from Brown on his 29th birthday that he would receive the gift of freedom he had asked for.

“After careful consideration, internal discussions and negotiations with Odell and his representation, we have determined that while Odell no longer plays for the Cleveland Browns, it is in the best interest of all parties,” general manager Andrew Berry said in a statement. The prepared statement said was issued Friday morning. “We in Cleveland appreciate all of his efforts and contributions, but we have just reached a point where it is best that we proceed as a team without Odell. We are in the process of granting Odell his release. and we wish him a good career.

Waivers

After days of talks, the Cleveland Browns and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. reached an agreement on Friday that would result in him being placed on a waiver on Monday, after which he could be claimed at 4 p.m. Tuesday. ET, league sources said.

Sources said the reworked contract is pending approval of the NFLPA.

Sources said that as part of a settlement of the rescheduling contract before it expires, the Browns agreed to remove the final two years of Beckham’s deal, meaning he is now set to become a free agent after this season.

Sources said any team that claims that Beckham, who turned 29 on Friday, will receive a salary of $7.25 million for the rest of the season. The cost is considered high for a player who is now in the final year of his contract.

The Browns wanted to lower that pay number to entice other teams, but on Friday agreed to Beckham’s request to uphold the financial terms, making a claim for him less likely.

Beckham Jr took just one catch for 6 yards during Sunday’s 15-10 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mayfield again targeted OBJ late in the game, but Beckham went up for the ball with only one hand and could not come down with a catch.

Cleveland’s passing game has struggled in recent weeks, as the Browns fell 4-4. Mayfield is only 26th in the QBR (43.0) and has only six touchdown passes. Beckham, meanwhile, is ranked 151st in the league in receptions per goal and 139th in run receptions per route. Both players have struggled with shoulder injuries this season.

Beckham’s father isn’t the only one to comment on the receiver. Ohio native and Browns fan LeBron James also tweeted about OBJ.
