Punch
Rams receiver Odell Beckham Jr. had an interesting game of himself in a 20-19 win over the Ravens on Sunday.
Beckham came in with a game-winning touchdown to secure the Rams’ fifth consecutive win – but not before an awkward moment with Ravens safety Chuck Clark.
In the second quarter, when Baltimore was leading 13-7, Clarke recorded his second interception of the day. When he got up to run back into the field, Beckham was seen punching him straight in the buttocks, causing Clark to fall to the ground.
The referee never flagged the play, and things never escalated. But, the internet was sure to point out the awkward moment.
It marked Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford’s second interception in the day. His first was returned by Clark for a touchdown.
Scandal
Odell Beckham Jr. is far from all rumours, but it left her in tears.
While the Cleveland Browns wide receiver is no stranger to being in the news for non-football reasons, the most recent snafu involving Beckham was a new one. He began trending on Twitter earlier this month after a podcast “That’s Next Door” alleged a bizarre sexual preference for his involvement.
Beckham, 27, told Maverick Carter in an interview for Uninterrupted, “Out of every rumor, situation, all the bullshit—I’ve dealt with in my career, it was the funniest s—t.”
Beckham said he woke up to a message from a friend who had sent him a video of the allegation.
“It was like seven o’clock in the morning when I was going to take my [COVID-19] test and I saw it and I called him back crying,” Beckham said. “I’ve never heard this in my life. I couldn’t believe it.
Trade ravens
The NFL rumor mill never takes a break, especially during this awkward off-season.
While a lot of quarterback names are being thrown around, Cleveland Browns wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. claimed some headlines this week as he continues his recovery from surgery to repair a torn ACL.
One important factor to consider for OBJ’s future: the salary cap. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Dan Graziano have reported that the cap will drop from $198.2 million in 2020 to $181 million in 2021.
Since its introduction in 1994, the NFL’s salary range has decreased only once, according to NFL.com. This reduction occurred after the NFL lockout in 2011. Otherwise, the salary cap has seen a decent increase every year – until now.
As Fowler and Graziano report, with the COVID-19 pandemic affecting the cap, teams may be more inclined to part ways with players who have large cap numbers.
