It looks like there are a lot of people looking to run in the New York City Marathon this year.
The New York Road Runners announced an unparalleled interest from anyone who wants to run the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon.
Over 84,000 applications were received for drawing non-guaranteed admissions. An estimated 12% will be accepted.
For the first time since 2019, the race will be at full capacity this year with 50,000 runners.
Entry
For those who live outside the United States, guaranteed admission with the purchase of a “travel package” (ie flight to the New York City area/or hotel stay, or both) is available through an official international. Tour Operator (ITO). International runners can purchase travel packages from any of the official ITOs in the drop-down menu below.
Please ensure that you book your travel package from one of the official ITOs listed on our website. Also, please note that ITO is not allowed to sell “Entry Only”. All NYRR event entries must be sold as part of a travel package.

Road closures Map
The New York City Police Department today announced the closure of streets related to the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon. Road closures and parking restrictions are expected to delay traffic. The use of public transport is highly recommended.
The upper level of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic from midnight on Sunday, November 6. Around 7 a.m. the roads along the route will begin to be closed in preparation for the marathon. Before taking their starting position on Staten Island, runners will be screened and their bags inspected. The New York Road Runners provide participants with clear bags to speed up the process. Individuals who require event credentials and special access to secure areas, such as organisers, volunteers and other personnel, have been pre-screened in addition to the physical screening they received on Sunday.
Bag checking and magnetometer screening will be done in the area of the finish line. Finish line spectators can help speed up, if not ease some of the security process, by leaving the backpack at home.
Results
Evans Chebet chased most of the men’s competition and his efforts paid off in Central Park. The Kenyan athlete claimed the title in 2:08:41, 12 seconds ahead of runner-up Shura Kitata of Ethiopia. Abdi Ngei finished third in 2:10:31.
Chebet participated in a patient race while navigating an unexpected move by a fellow competitor. After leading the competition in the opening mile and maintaining a significant lead for most of the race, Daniele do Nascimento got fed up around the 20-mile mark and was out of contention. The Brazilian had to use the restroom on the shore before suffering convulsions and being passed by Chebet.

Evans Chebet and Sharon Lokedy lead Kenya to victory at the New York City Marathon men’s and women’s elite titles for the third time in a row. Chebet, who won the Boston Marathon on April 18, surpassed Brazil’s Daniele do Nascimento in around mile 21 and later took the win in 2 hours, 8 minutes, 41 seconds.
How many people finished the NYC Marathon 2022?
