Injury
Denver Broncos tight end Noah Fant (knee) was able to have full practice on Thursday and Friday and has been dropped from the final injury report for Week 1 against the New York Giants this Sunday. Fant continues to struggle with injuries early in his career, but Fantasy managers will be happy to know he will be in uniform to start the year. The 23-year-old figures to be a key component in Denver’s on-going attack again, and is expected to use him widely in 2020. If he can avoid injuries, Fant has the pace and physicality to apply. Until a breakout season. Remember when he took 14 catches for 184 yards and two touchdowns in the first three weeks last year? The Giants Defense was one of the better units last year at slowing down tight ends in terms of fantasy points allowed, but Fanta should be the low end starting TE1 at least in the first game of the 2021 season.
Mom
When it first appeared on Instagram earlier this month, it was hard to reconcile. When confirmed on Twitter for the funeral, the reality was shocking.
Noah Phantom had unexpectedly lost his mother to an illness. As someone who covers the team on a daily basis, this season is decidedly different without access to the locker room, I was unaware Cathy Fant, whom I met at the time of Noah’s draft, was ill. Now, she was gone at 53?
Funeral services were held in Omaha, Nebraska. General Manager George Patton, Coach Vic Fangio, Vice President of Player Development Ray Jackson, Von Miller and Drew Lock attended, an appearance that moved Fant.
One of seven children, Fant said, “Ray Jackson brought everyone together and enabled everyone to come. And it meant a lot.” “I was walking outside just before it started and I saw it and then it came in and it teared me up. It made me emotional. It showed me how much they care about me and my family – it’s not just business.” It means a lot to me.”
