The origin of Sauce Castillo goes back to 2015 when Stauskas, who was acquired from Portland in the Rodney Hood trade, was a rookie playing for the Sacramento Kings. During a game against Philadelphia, Stauskas made a three-pointer, prompting the announcer on TV to say “Stauskas hitting the three.” For some reason, though, the closed-captioning translated the announcer’s words into “Sauce Castillo hit the three.”
