Injury update

Defensive end Nick Bossa was listed as a suspect for the 49ers’ Week 6 game with a groin injury. He did not practice on Wednesdays and Thursdays but did participate in limited work on the Friday before the club moved to Atlanta.

Coach Kyle Shanahan said Bossa “looked good” during the team’s light practice on Friday.

Shanahan said, “It’s not bad enough to say that he is out, but you have to be careful whoever has it and obviously, especially Nick.”

Bossa is tied for the NFL lead on the season with six sacks.

Defensive linemen Eric Armstead (leg, ankle) and Javan Kinlaw (knee), and defensive backs Emmanuel Moseley (knee) and Jimmy Ward (arm) were also excluded.

Linebacker Aziz Al-Shayer (knee) is on injured reserve, scheduled to return in the second half.

Moseley will go on injured reserve after sustaining a season-ending torn ACL in his left knee in the 49ers’ Week 5 game against the Carolina Panthers.

Left tackle Trent Williams (ankle) was also ruled out for Sunday’s game but could be available for Game 7 of the 49th week against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Allegations

According to the New York Post, Jenna Berman is Nick Bosa’s girlfriend, who faced backlash for some of her old tweets. Several of these tweets, mostly from 2013 and 2014, featured Jenna using the N-word. A few years ago, when the Twitter account ‘protest programming’ resurfaced several tweets from 2013 and 2014, in which Jenna apparently repeatedly used the N-word, and used a homophobic slur and other racist language.

Racist

Nick Bosa has been at the center of a social media storm ever since footage surfaced of him ignoring an African-American fan in the stands.

The video shows Bosa reaching out to fans and giving one of his gloves along with his jersey to a young supporter. Right next to him was an African-American fan, who asked Bossa to give him the second glove. Instead, he opted to throw it in the general direction away from the fan in question.
Now keep in mind that appearances may not always be what they seem. Nick Bosa could do what many players do when they throw their sporting gear at the crowd in different directions.

He may have chosen to approach a particular class because players usually make exceptions for children who have come to see the game.

However, that hasn’t stopped users on social media from deciding to brand Bossa a racist. Here are some selected comments.

Is playing

The San Francisco 49ers are at The Greenbrier, West Virginia. They prepare for their Week 6 event against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Samson Abukum returned to practice after missing Wednesday’s session in what head coach Kyle Shanahan described as a defensive end dealing with tendinitis from the turf at Bank of America Stadium. However, the 49ers officially listed it as an Achilles injury. He was limited.

Defensive linemen Nick Bossa (groin) and Javan Kinlaw (knee) are still out of practice. Bosa was seen working out on a side field. Eric Armstead is out for Sunday. He did not travel to West Virginia with the team.

These are the three leading 49ers defensive linemen who may be absent when the team takes the field against the Falcons.

Robbie Gould returns to practice. It’s a good sign for a kicker who hurt his left knee against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday.

Below is Thursday’s practice participation report for both the 49ers and Falcons, which was provided by the 49ers communications staff.
