Tracker:

The Florida Panthers have acquired forward Claude Giroux and defenseman Ben Chiarot. The Colorado Avalanche have acquired defenseman Josh Manson and forward Nico Sturm.

The Boston Bruins beefed up their defense by acquiring Hampus Lindholm, then signed him to a six-year, $52 million contract. The Toronto Maple Leafs countered by making a deal for defenseman Mark Giordano.

Latest Rumors:

Last year, a similar situation happened, but the Washington Capitals and Detroit Red Wings pulled off an old-fashioned hockey trade involving Anthony Mantha and Jakub Vrana at the buzzer.

As a follow to the Wild acquiring Marc-Andre Fleury, the Wild are dealing backup goalie Kaapo Kahkonen to the Sharks for rugged defenseman Jacob Middleton, according to Sportsnet.

Kahkonen is a restricted free agent, which could free up the Sharks to trade goalie James Reimer. Middleton is the second gritty player added by the Wild after an earlier acquisition of Nicolas Deslauriers.

NHL Trade Deadline: Tracker| Latest rumors| Updates for 2022

Teams that are eyeing a Stanley Cup have an opportunity to give up draft picks and prospects to get players that help the club win now, while other teams can sell of pending free agents, getting value in return for someone that was going to walk away for nothing in the summer.

The madness has already begun with a number of notable names having been moved ahead of Monday, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t more deals to be made.
