Lottery:
In front of their hometown fans at the Bell Centre, the Canadiens threw a curveball, instead announcing that they would be taking Slovakian winger Juraj Slafkovsky with the first pick, prompting roars and gasps, boos and jeers, in English and French alike.
Though this was not a complete shocker — things had started to trend towards Slafkovsky recently — it was treated as such by the attending crowd, and set the draft amid a particularly wild course.
Simulator:
The Chicago Blackhawks acquired the No. 25 overall pick and goaltender Petr Mrazek from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for the No. 38 overall selection.
