The National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league consisting of 32 teams, divided equally between the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC). Schedule rumors 2022
NFL Schedule Release Day has finally arrived!
8 o’clock at night. ET, the NFL will unveil all 272 games that will be played during the regular season this year. However, the schedule will not be released till 8 pm. ET, a lot of leaks will come to light during the day and we’ll cover them here.
From now until 8 p.m. ET, we’ll be covering every leak and rumor that comes our way. Basically, you want to keep up with this live blog all day long — or keep watching — so you can find out what the latest leaks are. During the day, hopefully we’ll be able to answer some important questions like: Who will host the Rams in the NFL opener? Who will be playing Thanksgiving? Which Six Teams Will Take Part in the NFL’s First Christmas Tripleheader?
Okay, that’s all, let’s get to the rut.
The Detroit Lions and the rest of the NFL will release the entire 2022 schedule at 8 p.m. Thursday night ET But throughout the day, several games will be leaked, allowing us to gradually work out the schedule before the official release. That’s what this post is for.
We already know that the Lions will face 17 opponents this year. So much has been set by a pretty standard procedure. This year, the Lions will have their usual six divisional games, playing each team from the NFC East and each team from the AFC East. Additionally, they have a bonus home game against an AFC opponent (Jaguars), a recent move to a 17-game schedule.
As a reminder, here are the domestic and overseas opponents for the 2022 season.

Strength of schedule 2022
With the NFL schedule being released on Thursday, now seems like a good time to take a look at the strength of the schedule for each team going into 2022, so that’s exactly what we’re going to do.
Based on final standings from 2021, the Los Angeles Rams will go into the upcoming season with the toughest force of the schedule.
It’s been nearly 20 years since the NFL has seen a team win back-to-back Super Bowls, and based on the strength of this year’s schedule, it’s a drought that likely isn’t going to end this season. The Rams have an SOS of .567, which not only gives them the toughest schedule in 2022, but it also makes them one of only two teams in the NFL—along with the Cardinals—that will have the strength of the schedule above. 540.
The Rams’ rough schedule includes 10 games against playoff teams from the previous season, the most in the NFL. The Rams Road schedule is particularly brutal with five of their eight matches against teams (49ers, Cardinals, Buccaneers, Packers, Chiefs) making the playoffs last year and against teams that finished in 2021 with a winning record. Seven out of eight.
The Rams may not be the only team in Super Bowl LVI that has a hard time getting back into the game and that’s because the Bengals have also been dealt with a tough hand. Going into 2022, the Bengals have the toughest schedule in the AFC and the third toughest overall. Out of their nine road games, the Bengals will play five of them against teams that went to the playoffs last season (Steelers, Patriots, Titans, Buccaneers and Cowboys).
