Taylor reimagines his true freshman season. As a redshirt freshman, he made nine tackles (one for defeat) in the eight matches he played. A suspension due to a dispute with a teammate caused Taylor to miss two games of his redshirt sophomore year. [3] [4] He ended the season with 27 tackles, four tackles for damages, three sacks and two force fumbles. [5] As a redshirt junior, Taylor led the team with eight sacks and 11 tackles with a total of 36 tackles.

Taylor entered her redshirt senior year on the Chuck Bednarik Award watchlist. [7] Taylor finished the season tied for second in the SEC with 8.5 sacks and led the Volunteers with 10 tackles for losses with 46 total tackles, one coercive fumble, one fumble recovery and four pass defenses. [8] Taylor went on to defend his collegiate career in 38 games with 118 tackles, 26.5 tackles for losses, and 19.5 sacks with six forced fumbles, four fumble recoveries, and seven passes.
