The Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks are three combined victories away from setting off one of the most anticipated first-round series in NBA history.

7 in the standings to beat the Indiana Pacers on Sunday, making it the host of one of two Eastern Conference play-in games.

The Nets play-in round will be determined by the result of the rival Bucks versus the Cleveland Cavaliers. That game and the Brooklyn-Indiana conflict happen at the same time on Sunday afternoon.

Milwaukee needed a win to lock in the No. 2 seed, which would bring it into a matchup against the winner of the Nets’ play-in game. Brooklyn could face the Cleveland or Atlanta Hawks for the right to take the Bucks. Atlanta rose to the No. 8 spot with a win over the Houston Rockets and a Cleveland loss to Milwaukee.

The Boston Celtics and Philadelphia 76ers will be waiting in their respective locker rooms to see what the Bucks do. Boston and Philadelphia play in the window for the second time on Sunday. If Milwaukee wins, no team can take down the No. 2 seed.

The Western Conference has little confusion in its remaining seeding scenarios. The Golden State Warriors need to beat the New Orleans Pelicans to stay on the No. 3 seed. The Utah Jazz must beat the Portland Trail Blazers to get the No. 5 seed.

A single place changed hands in the NBA playoff standings on the final day of the regular season.

2 seed in the Eastern Conference when they decided to rest Giannis Antetokounmpo and his other top contributors.

This allowed the Boston Celtics to move up one place with their win over the Memphis Grizzlies. Boston is now the most likely first-round opponent for the Brooklyn Nets.

Brooklyn defeated the Indiana Pacers to gain a home-court advantage in the East play-in round. The Nets needed to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers for the second time in a week to set up a showdown with the Celtics.

The Golden State Warriors and the Utah Jazz took victories on Sunday night to ensure that the top 10 in the Western Conference didn’t change.

3 seed, Utah had an easy night against the Portland Trail Blazers, thanks to a 40-point performance from Klay Thompson.

The season begins with play-in round games on the following Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The first round series opens on Saturdays and Sundays.
