Nathan Raymond McKinnon (born September 1, 1995) is a Canadian professional ice hockey center and alternate captain of the Colorado Avalanche of the National Hockey League (NHL). McKinnon was selected first overall by the Avalanche in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. Sometimes referred to as “Nate the Great”, he is widely regarded as one of the leading players in the NHL and post. The season is known for having an exceptional cast. McKinnon currently has the third-highest playoff points in NHL history at 1.32ppg per game average (minimum 40 games played), behind only Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux.

It’s been quite the weekend for the family of Nathan McKinnon as they follow a potential first pick of the 2013 NHL Draft through the metropolitan area leading up to Draft Day on Sunday at the Prudential Center in Newark (3 p.m. ET). ; NBCSN, TSN).
During a media lunch featuring top prospects, McKinnon was accompanied by his mother and father, Kathy and Graham, and his older sister, Sarah.
“It’s very exciting,” Graham McKinnon told NHL.com. “It’s almost like we’re on vacation and we’re here for someone else’s draft. Then you look and it’s your son. You see his name and we’re so excited and happy for him.”
He must be. Nathan closed out a memorable second season with the Halifax Mooseheads with 32 goals, 75 points and a plus-40 rating in 44 regular-season games, and his nine-game goal-scoring streak from October 6–27 was the longest . Player in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League in 2012-13. In 17 QMJHL playoff games, he had 11 goals and 33 points to help lead his team to the league title. He then won the Stafford Smyth Memorial Trophy as Most Valuable Player in the Memorial Cup, leading Halifax to the championship after a total of seven goals and 13 points in four games.

First drafted in 2013, the Avalanche assistant captain has been with the organization throughout his career. He recorded 88 points in only 65 regular-season games and was instrumental in the AVS postseason run.
Crosby is a three-time Stanley Cup champion. They won against the Detroit Red Wings in 2009 before winning back-to-back cups in 2016 and 2017.
