win or lose; One thing can always be predicted about the Nate Diaz fight – he won’t get out of it. Despite never winning UFC gold, the younger Diaz brother is touted as the promotion’s ultimate ‘gangster’, and he lives up to that reputation on every occasion.

From dodging his opponents during a press conference to lighting a joint, Nate Diaz simply doesn’t care much for decorum, which is probably the biggest reason he’s managed to garner loyal fans that he did.

I have to ask everyone to remember why any MMA fighters are popular. Or why are boxers so less popular today. The simple answer is entertainment value.

Modern boxing today is, for the most part, notoriously boring. Fights go on for too long, people are stale partners and very rarely fight like hell. It is often like a chess match. And what are the weapons, what are the ways to win? Points or punches. And points are awarded based on the number of punches hit. But it’s exciting to watch because MMA has become increasingly popular. And it’s exciting to see few fighters as Nate Diaz. Nate is never one to take the path of least resistance. Many people forget, or never knew, that he is an absolute phenomenon in BJJ. But he rarely uses it to fight. If you trade with him standing, he will stand up and trade with you, even if you have better striking.

Nate is popular because he gives “no f*cks”. None. He is a fighter. He is an entertainer. As long as the money is right, he will fight anyone, anywhere. Want a short notice fighter? He’s not in a position to fight, but he’ll do it anyway. As long as he’s on catchweight, because he’s not paying any money for his fight. Need someone to step in and fight the guy no one wants? He will. just pay him. And he makes no bones about it. He really speaks, doesn’t hide or sugar coat anything, and is 100% committed to living life on his own terms. When you think about who and how he fought, he’s almost invincible. And if you want to win, you almost have to catch him and make it a boring fight. He fights hard, he lives honestly, and he speaks his truth. He gives people what they ask for. Every fight is exciting if it gets its way. And he is the same man in the cage he is outside.

Nate Diaz is a fighter who is probably the most frequently seen underdog in the UFC. The Stockton Brawler made his debut against Manvel Gamburian in the final battle of The Ultimate Fighter Season 5. After winning the fight by submission, Diaz faced big names in the UFC like Rafael dos Anjos, Donald Cerrone, Clay Guida, and Rory McDonald. He has also collected several post-fight bonuses in his career.

What really made Diaz a star was his small win over Conor McGregor via submission at UFC 196. Diaz had a second fight with McGregor at UFC 202, which the Stockton native lost via a controversial majority decision.
