The track was built in 2001 and is currently used for events, driving schools and the GT Academy, a reality television competition. On June 20, 2021, after a decades-long hiatus, the facility is set to host its first NASCAR Cup race, the Allies 400.

It is a solid oval track 1.333 miles long. Nashville Superspeedway is owned by Dover Motorsports, Inc. which also owns Dover International Speedway. Nashville Superspeedway was the longest concrete oval in NASCAR while being on the NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series circuits. The current permanent seating capacity is around 25,000. Additional portable seats are brought in for some events, and the seating capacity can be increased to 150,000. The infrastructure is in place to expand the facility to include a short track, drag strip and road course.

Nashville Superspeedway hosted its first NASCAR events in April 2001. As of 2021, the 1.33-mile D-shaped oval with 14 degrees of banking has hosted one NASCAR Cup Series race, 22 NASCAR Xfinity Series races, 14 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events, and eight. Indy Racing League Competitions.
