Achilles injury
Osaka revealed her Achilles trouble in early June, when she tweeted a video of herself on an underwater treadmill. In the tweet, Osaka said that “Achilles is getting stubborn.”
Osaka competed at the French Open in late May, but lost in the first round.
Prior to that defeat, Osaka said she could not attend Wimbledon in 2022. The tournament will not have ranking points this year, and Osaka said she was concerned about being able to promote herself if Wimbledon feels like an exhibition.
