What surgery did have
Last year, Nadal had to end his season early due to a leg injury. It is a recurring injury he has suffered since 2005, and he eventually had to undergo surgery to repair the damage in 2021. Despite some anxiety towards the end of his career, Nadal was insisting that he would return to tennis.
At the time, he said, “I am confident that I will be able to recover and if my leg is better, I am confident that my tennis and my mindset will be back soon.”
Surgeries
Rafael Nadal has made a triumphant return to the Australian Open after taking time off to recover from foot surgery.
The Spanish tennis star defeated Daniil Medvedev by two sets in the final to become the first person to do so at the Open. Looking at Nadal’s past year and the health problems he faced, this history-making feat impressed in the final. We traced Nadal’s surgical history to find out what procedures he had performed.
Post match interview
World No. 5 Rafael Nadal may have won against German qualifier Yannick Hanfmann on Wednesday, but he faced another daunting task in a post-match interview with Jim Courier.
Despite the final score of 6-2, 6-3, 6-4, it took Nadal two hours and 42 minutes to win under the scorching sun at Rod Laver Arena.
The toned Spaniard’s performance impressed Channel 9 commentator Courier, but it was the 35-year-old’s physique that piqued his interest, asking Nadal how he maintained such a refined figure.
