Knicks
The next few weeks are going to be a whirlwind for the New York Knicks. From the 2022 NBA Draft to free agency, New York’s front office is going to be busy.
Apart from trading for Cam Reddish in late January, Nix did not make any major trades before the February 10 deadline. But there were rumors that New York had inquired about certain players, and one of those players was Miles Turner of the Indiana Pacers.
The Pacers themselves took a big step when they sent Domantas Sabonis to the Sacramento Kings. And here we are, a few months later, and Indiana is once again engaging in trade talks around Turner leading up to the draft. And though the Knicks showed interest back in February, the Front Office shouldn’t be trading for 26-year-old Kendra.
Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report reported that teams are “monitoring the Indiana Pacers’ ability to take away seasoned talent.” And New York is reportedly interested in point guard Malcolm Brogdon if things go south with Jalen Brunson in free agency, and that’s understandable. But trying to acquire Turner no longer makes sense, even if Michelle Robinson doesn’t sign an extension.
Mavericks
Several teams were trying to get him, but his mark was lost due to injury.
In the off-season, some of those teams may call again. Indiana should listen, as they should still be able to find some solid value for Turner. One team that can join the bidding is the Dallas Mavericks.
