Major League Baseball (MLB) is a professional baseball organization and the oldest major professional sports league in the world. Major League Baseball’s post season begins on Friday with the first edition of the best-of-three wild card series. This year’s tournament features more teams (12) than in previous years according to a playoff expansion baked into the new collective bargaining agreement. The top two seeds in each league (Dodgers, Braves, Astros and Yankees) earned first round byes, while the other eight teams would compete in a best-of-three series over the weekend (Guardians-Ray, Blue Jays-Mariners).

The MLB postseason bracket is set. With all four wild card series starting Friday, all teams have won and all seeds have been sealed.

The Braves closed their fifth straight NL East crown, the lone remaining division title, with a 2–1 win over the Marlins, which gives them a first-round bye. As the NL’s No. 2 seed, he will face the winner of the Wild Card Series between the Cardinals and No. 6 seed Phillies. Atlanta went 4-3 against the Cardinals this year and 11-8 against division-rival Phillies.

The flip side of Atlanta’s clinch the Mets are officially settling in the top NL wild card berths. New York will host the No. 5 seed Padres. San Diego and Philadelphia seeded fifth and sixth respectively on Tuesday night.
