According to the German newspaper Bild, Raiola was battling lung disease before his death.

Earlier this week, Italian media incorrectly reported that the football broker had died, which was then picked up by the international press.

Real Madrid also offered their condolences after false reports surfaced, forcing Raiola to be denied his hospital bed.

He wrote on Twitter: “For those who are curious, here’s my current health status :P***D For the second time in four months, they killed me. They seem capable of resuscitation too.”

Riola was admitted to the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan in January 2022. Raiola’s business partner and the doctor treating him both said in April 2022 that Raiola was “fighting” for his life. Several news sites announced his death on April 28, which he later denied in a social media post, writing: “For the second time in four months they killed me.”

Raiola passed away after a prolonged illness, his family confirmed on Saturday. He was undergoing treatment at the San Rafael Hospital in Milan, where Zlatan Ibrahimovic visited him this week. Raiola had surgery in January but it was said at the time that it was not life-threatening.
