Milan Lucic (born June 7, 1988) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player for the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL). He played major junior hockey with the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League (WHL) for three seasons and captured the Memorial Cup, while being named tournament MVP in 2007. He was selected and drafted 50th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. Bruins roster as a 19-year-old in 2007–08.

“The Boston Bruins are aware of the situation involving Milan Lucic on Friday evening. Milan is taking indefinite leave from the team,” the team said.

“The organization takes these matters very seriously, and we will work with the Lucic family to provide them with any support and assistance they need.”

Bruins head coach Jim Montgomery offered limited comments after the team’s morning skate on Saturday, prior to their game against the Montreal Canadiens.

Bruins veteran forward Milan Lucic is facing assault and battery charges following his arrest Saturday morning in downtown Boston following a domestic incident, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

The DA confirmed that Lucic is charged with assault and battery on a family member. Lucic is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Boston Municipal Court.
