Milan Lucic is a Canadian professional ice hockey player for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League. He played major junior hockey with the Vancouver Giants in the Western Hockey League for three seasons and captured the Memorial Cup, while being named tournament MVP in 2007.

And while Lucic isn’t considered a repeat offender – his last suspension was in early 2019-20, well past the 18 month window for being a repeat offender under the CBA – but Lucic has been suspended twice and fined three times in his NHL career.

Calgary Flames forward Milan Lucic has been suspended for two games, without pay, for roughing Columbus Blue Jackets forward Kole Sherwood during NHL Game No. 211 in Columbus on Saturday, Nov. 2, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

Game Misconduct:

 Connor McDavid scored 5:03 into overtime, and the Edmonton Oilers eliminated the Calgary Flames with a 5-4 win in Game 5 of the Western Conference Second Round at Scotiabank Saddledome on Thursday.

The incident occurred at 4:52 of the second period. Lucic was assessed two minor penalties for roughing.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and, based on his average annual salary, Lucic will forfeit $64,516.12. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

Lucic appeared to try and let up on the play, but still sent the veteran netminder flying with Calgary trailing 4-0.
