Adam Zimmer, son of former Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, has died, his sister Corey Zimmer announced Tuesday. He was 38 years old.

Zimmer was a former co-defensive coordinator for the Vikings and served as an offensive analyst for the Cincinnati Bengals. Corey Zimmer posted a heartwarming message to his Instagram.

“I can’t believe I’m writing this. I lost my older brother yesterday. Was the kindest, sweetest, family-loving, sports-obsessed soul. I’ve had this kind of thing once before. Cause of death

Adam’s mother died in 2009 while Mike Zimmer was coaching in Cincinnati. That death was also unexpected, and was listed as a death of “natural causes”.

According to ESPN, Bengals owner Mike Brown issued the following statement regarding the death:

“Our organization has been privileged to know and work with the Zimmer family for over 15 years. We have the most respect for Mike and Adam, and we are incredibly saddened by this sad news. Mike and Adam for us They were friends – more than just coaches. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Zimmer family at this time.”

Wife

Vicky Zimmer was the wife of Mike Zimmer. Vicky died of natural causes at his home in 2009. She was 50 years old at the time of his death.

The death of Vicky Zimmer was a sad moment for the Bengals’ 2009 season. Old tweets from journalists and former players show how sad it was for them at the time:
Ray Mouluga was the rookie linebacker for the Bengals at that time.

Vicky Zimmer was always present at Bengals facilities, and was considered the “mother” of the defense because of how closely she was related to the players of the time. After his death, many players from Bengal were present at his funeral to bid him a final farewell and to give some rest to Coach Zimmer.

Both Vicky and Coach Zimmer lived in Ohio at the time of her death. They met in the late 70s and married in 1982. The couple had two children, named Adam and Corey.

Zimmer shines in the face of adversity
Despite such personal tragedy, Zimmer still found a way to do his job at a high level. That year, the Bengals were ranked as the fourth best defense in the league and won their division, losing to the New York Jets in the wild card round.
