Press conference
Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Wrabel had a message for skeptics Thursday night after his team’s 20-17 win against the San Francisco 49ers.
Titans are not dead.
“The funeral for the Titans was yesterday or today, but we’re not dead yet”, Wrabel gave the message during their post-game press conference.
The Titans had lost three out of four games when they entered their matchup with the 49ers on Thursday night. Losing to San Francisco would have dropped Tennessee 9-6. Instead, the Titans are 10-5 with two games remaining in the regular season.
Tennessee is currently the No. 2 seed in the AFC, although they will drop to the No. 3 seed if the New England Patriots beat the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
The Titans could win the AFC South on Sunday with the Indianapolis Colts’ loss to the Arizona Cardinals.

High School
Nashville, Tenn. (WKRN) – It’s fair to say that Mike Wrabel can be a little rough around the edges at times.
Where does that intensity come from?
I dug into his roots and tried to get the best picture possible of something that, frankly, is hard to picture: Mike Wrabel as a kid.
His high school football coach at Walsh Jesuit, Gary Raddin, said, “Probably the best example of the mix of intensity and fun I’ve ever seen.”
fun-loving?
“I got to see so many different sides of Mike and it was amazing. He would be on the front lines of the Spanish and I don’t know why he never had a smile on his face,” said Rardin, who was also his Spanish teacher. And then, to see that same kid on the football field be one of the most intense players you’ve ever seen, I think that was the amazing thing about him. I’ve never seen anyone so extreme in their nature, but that was Mike. ,
Wrabel was a three-sport athlete who walked the halls of the Walsh Jesuits with as quiet confidence as he still holds. Now, he strolls along an NFL edge.
“He was older than most kids at that age,” recalls his offensive and defensive line coach Steve Greskovich. “One thing about it though, Mike would pick kids who were younger to move on and be on his team and help him.”
College
Wrabel accepted an athletic scholarship to attend Ohio State University and played defensive end from 1993 to 1996. He compiled twelve quarterback sacks as a sophomore, thirteen as a junior, and forty-eight tackles and nine sacks as a senior. As a senior in 1996, he was recognized as a unanimous first-team All-American. Wrabel ended his career at Ohio State being named Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year in both 1995 and 1996, becoming the first of two players to win the award twice (Wisconsin’s Wendell Bryant was the other). He accumulated 36 sacks and 66 tackles for the loss.
He was named to the Ohio State Football All-Century Team in 2000, and was inducted into the Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.
