Former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson seems to have joined the ranks of unruly airline passengers.
“Unfortunately, there was an incident involving Mr. Tyson with an aggressive passenger who started harassing him and threw a water bottle at him,” Joan Mignano, a representative for Tyson, said in a statement.
The video, obtained by TMZ Sports, was taken on a JetBlue plane in San Francisco, according to TMZ. It shows a man repeatedly hitting what appears to be another passenger in the seat behind him.
According to the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD) around 10 p.m. PT on Wednesday, police officers were “sent for a physical altercation on an airplane located at the domestic terminal of San Francisco International Airport.”
Police said that two people involved in the incident have been taken into custody. According to a statement from the SFPD, one person was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
“That subject provided minimal details of the incident and declined to cooperate further with the police investigation,” police said. Both men were released “pending further investigation”. The SFPD declined to identify any subjects.
Punches man on plane
The San Francisco Police Department states that TMZ sports officials responded to the scene… and detained two people they believed were involved in the incident.
Police said, however, that after one of the people was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the man “provided a minimal description of the incident and refused to further cooperate with the police investigation.”
The SFPD says it is aware of the video of the fight and has sent it to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office.
7:28 AM PT — Sources close to Mike claim the man was very drunk… and won’t stop provoking the boxer in his seat.
Mike Tyson seemed to lose his cool on a plane Wednesday night … after the man repeatedly punched him in the face, angered by the man.
TMZ Sports has learned…the incident occurred at approximately 10:30 a.m. PT as Tyson prepared to take a flight from San Francisco International Airport to Florida.
A witness on the plane says that when he and his friend were boarding Tyson’s flight … the boxing legend was initially calm with him and the other passengers.
The witness tells us that Mike took a selfie with her … and then was patient with his overly excited friend, who kept trying to talk to the 55-year-old fighter sitting behind him.
Eventually, though, we were told that there was quite a guy behind Tyson talking in his ear… and told him to calm down. When the boy didn’t, the witness says Tyson began punching the man in the face several times.
The video we found shows Tyson stabbing the man, who you can see with blood on the passenger’s forehead. Witness says Mike got off the plane a few seconds later.
We are told that the person who was punched got medical help and then went to the police about the incident. We have reached out to the police for comment, but as of now, there is no word back.
We’ve also reached out to JetBlue and Tyson’s camp for comment on the incident, but there’s no word yet.

Tyson repeatedly punched the man whose assigned seat on the flight was behind the boxing legend. The man was reportedly left with a bloody face after Tyson killed him.
According to TMZ Sports, the incident happened at 10:30 pm. After Tyson boarded a JetBlue flight to Florida. TMZ also reported that the passenger killed by Tyson was “extremely intoxicated … and wouldn’t stop agitating the boxer in his seat.” A Tyson spokesman said the passenger threw a water bottle at the 55-year-old.
“Unfortunately, there was an incident involving Mr. Tyson with an aggressive passenger who started harassing him and threw a water bottle at him,” the spokesperson told ESPN.
