Will be fired
The Pittsburgh Steelers are a model of stability in the NFL. Since 1969, the franchise has had just three head coaches. Chuck Knoll won four titles with the Steel Curtain Defense in the 1970s and retired in 1991. Bill Cowher took over and won Super Bowl XL before retiring. In 2007, Mike Tomlin took over and also won Super Bowl XLII. But after at the helm of 15 seasons, some Steelers fans think it’s time for him to leave. Some might believe that he has done everything he could for Pittsburgh and that a new coach in charge will revive the team’s fortunes. However, firing Tomlin would be the Steelers’ worst decision.
Is sick
According to Rapoport, Tomlin is away from the team’s facility and members of the Steelers coaching and personnel staff were sent home last week after several people tested positive for the virus. Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette said Tomlin, the assistant coach and members of the Scouting staff were sent home on Wednesday. “I would like to thank everyone who reached out to express their concern for my health,” Tomlin said in the release. “Luckily I have minimal symptoms and am grateful to be in good health. I want to thank the media professionals who were aware of my condition and respected my privacy.” Tomlin said he would work from home virtually and be back in the office “soon”.
