Pittsburgh Steelers Mike Tomlin lived the first six years of his life in a three-bedroom house that housed seven people. Tomlin fondly remembers his maternal grandfather, the man of the house, as “a bad friend”.

What Mike Tomlin came to talk about, Mike Tomlin didn’t interest him. He said it was a story he already knew.

But the story of Tomlin’s orphaned childhood and the figures of the father pulling him through it, mainly in the presence of over 1,000 people at Orchard Hill Church in Wexford, were interesting enough.

The head coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers — 43 and a father of three — spent nearly eight hours of speech, breakout sessions and song highlights at Manup Pittsburgh, an event organized by Rev. Ed Glover’s Urban Impact to combat paternity in local communities.

Birthday

Mike Tomlin (born March 15, 1972) is an American football head coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers of the National Football League. Tomlin is the third-youngest head coach in any of the four major North American professional sports. He is the tenth African-American head coach in NFL history, and the first in Steelers history. With the Steelers’ victory in Super Bowl XLIII on February 1, 2009, Tomlin became the youngest head coach to lead his team to a Super Bowl victory. Tomlin is also the second African-American coach to participate in and win the Super Bowl. He is also the only Steelers coach to not have a losing record under .500.

Crying jordan

The Pittsburgh Steelers fell one game short of Super Bowl LI, losing 36-17 to the New England Patriots in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game.

As is customary on social media in this day and age, members of a losing sports team are often given the Crying Jordan treatment on Twitter. After Sunday’s loss, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin took the brunt of the social media trend, and as always, it was pretty hilarious.

The members of the New England Patriots certainly hope they don’t receive the crying Jordan treatment after Super Bowl LI against the Atlanta Falcons.
