Michael Lee McDaniel (born March 6, 1983) is an American football coach who is the head coach of the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). A former longtime assistant to Mike and Kyle Shanahan, McDaniel began his NFL coaching career in 2005 as an intern for the Denver Broncos. As an aggressively minded coach for his 17-year coaching career, McDaniel has served as an assistant. Coached for the Houston Texans, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons and San Francisco 49ers from 2006 to 2021, holding his first offensive coordinator position with the Niners in 2021. McDaniel has appeared in two Super Bowls, each with the Falcons. With the 49ers in 2017 and 2020.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel clarified this week’s comments that he identified “as a human”, confirming that his racial background is not something he only identifies with – it is who he is. .
“First and foremost, I’m fraternal. My mom’s white, my dad’s black. I’ve been so proud my whole life,” McDaniel told ESPN on Friday. “It’s a unique experience, being a race and then fully acknowledging that most outside observers, when they understand you, tend to recognize you as something other than that race. When you’re younger And it’s happening, so it’s very, very confusing.”
The Dolphins this week introduced McDaniel as their 14th head coach. During a news conference Thursday in Miami, McDaniel was asked what his experience was like growing up and whether his success could serve as an example to people with similar backgrounds.
He called the idea of identifying as something “weird” and said that he did not necessarily identify as a human being.

The Miami Dolphins are looking for a new head coach.
According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, in their fourth and hopefully final week of pursuit, the Dolphins had their second interview with 49ers offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel on Monday.
McDaniel has previously said that he was focused on San Francisco’s playoff run, not head coaching prospects.
But now that the 49ers’ season has come to an end after a 20-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams in the NFC Championship Game, both ends of the bargain are wasting no time handling business.
McDaniel’s mastermind has helped him do incredible things with the 49ers during his five seasons at Bay.
It wasn’t the way they wanted to end their season, but the 49ers were one win shy of their second Super Bowl appearance in three seasons, and McDaniel played a huge role in that.
McDaniel, 38, helped shape wide receiver Deebo Samuel into a versatile playwright in his third year, using him in the team’s rapid attack. Dibo ended the 2021 season with unique stats: 1,559 receiving yards, 502 rushing yards and 16 touchdowns.
Press conference
After doing a few interviews for the Miami Dolphins’ social media platform earlier in the week, Mike McDaniel was introduced to South Florida media on Thursday when the team held their introductory press conference.
McDaniel, along with his wife Kate and young daughter Ayla June, doesn’t necessarily look like a typical NFL head coach, so it only makes sense that his introductory press conference wouldn’t be like one.
