Michael John McCarthy (born November 10, 1963) is an American football coach who is the head coach of the Dallas Cowboys of the National Football League (NFL). He was the head coach of the Green Bay Packers from 2006 to 2018. In 2011 he led the team to Super Bowl XLV over his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers. He was previously the offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers and New Orleans Saints.

Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy will not be coaching tonight after being placed on the NFL’s COVID-19 list. On Monday, November 29, it was reported that the Cowboys’ head coach had tested positive and was displaying mild symptoms.

Why isn’t Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy coaching tonight?
With McCarthy not only testing positive for COVID-19 but displaying symptoms, he is out for week 13. The Cowboys head coach can’t join the rest of his team for Thursday Night Football. If McCarthy was asymptomatic, he could potentially be coaching Thursday night because he was vaccinated.

McCarthy openly discussed in July that he had decided to get vaccinated. This came even before the NFL issued a memo stating that their Tier 1 and 2 employees (excluding players) would be expected to be vaccinated unless they had an actual medical facility to do so. or have no religious basis.

 

According to Dallas reporter Michael Gehlken, the Dallas head coach was actually supposed to give his vaccine booster shot on Friday after finding out he was positive.
