“Obviously disappointed. Disappointing for our fans, disappointing for our supporters and our team. Credit to Iowa. They are a fine football team that took full advantage of the opportunities we presented. Obviously, as head coach “It’s my job to tell us to play well, which we didn’t do today. But I also think it’s important that we realize it’s just a game. And it’s important for us as a team to understand that.” That one sport should not and cannot be defined by us, and we cannot let one game play poorly, lead to another,” he said.
The biggest disappointment was that Maryland had a packed house of fans hoping to see the team as a program take a big step forward in its progress. Instead, the Terps dominated. “Yeah, that’s the part that’s probably the most frustrating for me because the head coach is, you know, our fans have been behind us. They showed. We’ve had a few opportunities here over the years. We’ve taken advantage of that energy and support. What they continue to bring. As I told my team, I hope they don’t let a game define them. Just like we won’t let it define us. But it’s our job to do that. Do a better job of providing a better performing team on the field.” We have these opportunities, so yeah, I definitely feel like it was a missed opportunity on our part. Disappointed for my fans because when we needed them they came for us. And it’s on me and it’s on all of us as a team to find a way to leverage that when we have these kinds of opportunities.”

According to the Baltimore Sun, Locksley will earn $2.5 million in his first year with the Terrapins, plus up to $775,000 in performance incentives, $100,000 for participating in the Big Ten Championship game, and an additional $50,000 if he wins. He will also have access to his own suite at Maryland Stadium, 24 regular-season tickets for each home and away game, with the same number for a bowl game; four-season tickets for men’s basketball games; and four season tickets to women’s basketball games. They also receive two VIP parking passes for Maryland Stadium and one VIP pass for other campus locations where applicable.
